Attention Training Technique (ATT) is an exercise for training attentional control and is part of the Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) developed by Adrian Wells.
Metacognitive therapy helps to reduce rumination and worry and can be used effectively for psychiatric disorders¹ such as:
Cognitive-Attentional Syndrome (CAS) is a term for negative thought patterns and focus of attention often found in people with anxiety or depression.
It involves constant worrying about the future, dwelling on the past, or monitoring for threats in the present, with difficulty breaking free from these cycles of thought.
Attention training techniques can be helpful in regaining control of attention and thereby reducing CAS.
People use different attention skills in everyday life, which are important in different contexts. Attention Training Technique aims to improve three types of attention:
Selective attention: the ability to focus on specific tasks or conversations for long periods of time.
Rapid attention switching: the ability to quickly shift attention from one task or environment to another, such as crossing the street in the middle of a conversation.
Divided attention: managing multiple tasks simultaneously, such as chatting while driving, without losing track or compromising safety.

ATTs have binaural audio, providing 3D spatial awareness when listened to over headphones.
Soundscapes are professionally recorded and mixed
Every ATT has a list of sounds with their stereo position as well as some relevant additional information
All of our ATTs can be listened to for free on the MindCare Media YouTube channel with no distracting mid-video ads. Check them out and start your attention training today!

I’m Mike and I created MindCare Media to provide people in need with free and high quality therapeutic material. The combination of being a professional media designer, my background in science and my knowledge and unplanned experience in psychotherapy support me in this mission. I created the first ATT videos for my own therapy and now share them to help others, too.
